Colonial Theater celebrates 100th birthday with street party

The Colonial Theater in Idaho Falls is turning 100 this year. To celebrate, the Idaho Falls Arts Council is throwing a Centennial Street Party.

The public is invited to come and step back in time with them. There will be old-time carnival games, snacks, a tour of the colonial theater and live music.

“Even though the entertainment might be different (compared to 100 years ago), the experiences of coming together as a community and enriching our lives with art,” said Brandi Newton, the executive director for the Idaho Falls Arts Council. “We’re just excited as the Arts Council to be continuing that legacy on.”

The Centennial Street Party starts at 4:30 p.m. and runs until 8:30 p.m. Friday.

The party will be held right in front of the Colonial Theater in Downtown Idaho Falls.
