Pocatello Arts Council and Idaho Foodbank team up for Empty Bowls event
Friday night, the Pocatello Arts Council and the Idaho Foodbank joined forces to host the first Empty Bowls fundraiser.
Held at the Westside Players theater in Pocatello, the event welcomed the community in to buy a bowl to benefit the Foodbank.
$15 got you a bowl and a choice of three different soups donated by Albertsons.
Development Coordinator for the Foodbank Jonna Boote said a lot of people stepped up to make the event possible.
“We had a lot of contributions to this. The Idaho State University’s clay club donated all the clay. We had local individuals come out and actually spin the bowls, so the bowls are handmade and hand-painted,” Boote explained.
Pocatello Arts Council chairman Mark Cooper added that the event displayed the amount of local talent that’s out there.
“It’s just great to see the amount of local talent we have here in Pocatello,” Cooper said, “it’s amazing.”
“We’ve had a great turnout tonight and, as Jonna said, we’re hoping to do this next year and who knows what happens after that.”
The event also featured live music and awards for two local artists
