Idaho teachers participate in i-STEM training
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) – Educators across the state are coming to the College of Eastern Idaho for a four-day STEM workshop. It will teach them all about STEM – science, technology, engineering and math – education.
The i-STEM Institute has opened up the course to six different location across the state.
This year's theme is "Step up to STEM: Increasing Integration." Each session throughout the week focuses on the theme to help teachers share their knowledge and passion for STEM within their schools and communities.
This year's sessions include:
- Integrating Biotechnology with the Life Sciences Classroom (grades 7-12)
- Beyond this World with STREAM (grades 1-8)
- Earth's Place in the Universe (grades 1-12)
- Inventing & STEM: A Team Approach (grades 2-12)
- Wildlife Conservation in Your Backyard (grades 1-8)
- Cracking the Code: Computer Science for K-2 (grades K-2)
- Ready, Set, Drone (grades 4-8)
Educators will leave with materials to implement into their classrooms for the school year.
According to the Idaho STEM Action Center, Idaho jobs in STEM are projected to grow 15.4% by 2030. These jobs include healthcare, engineering, construction and more. They say STEM jobs pay nearly twice as much as non-STEM jobs.
