BRUSSELS (AP) — The United Kingdom and the European Union say they will strengthen their relationship after the damage caused by Brexit. They plan to set a working agenda and to hold a series of meetings including at the highest level on issues like economic growth, energy, security and migration. U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen issued a statement on Wednesday. It said they agreed on “the importance of the unique relationship.” London’s relations with the EU went off the rails as the U.K. left the world’s biggest trading bloc four years ago. The two said they would meet again in the fall. They hope that an EU-U.K. summit can be held early next year.
