ISU’s Reed Gym pool reopens
POCATELLO, Idaho (KIFI) — A grand reopening at Idaho State University is making a splash.
The Reed Gym pool in Pocatello is now operational after eight months of renovations.
ISU got a grant from the Idaho Department of Public Works to repair the pool and give it a facelift.
The reopening was celebrated by the Idaho State swim team and University President Robert Wagner. Pres. Wagner even took the inaugural lap in his suit.
According to ISU's website, the newly renovated pool features six lanes, dynamic lighting and an upper balcony with spectator seating. Men's and women's locker rooms, showers, changing facilities and a sauna are also available. ISU swim team president said that she hopes the new pool will get more people interested in joining the team.
"We're hoping to gather more participation and more people because we've seen a significant decline since not having a pool," said Alexandria Boltz, president of the ISU swim team.
She is hopeful that there will be increased student interest in joining the club. Even though the pool is officially reopen, it will not be available to the public until early next month.
