Driver safe after vehicle slides into canal near Iona Road

AMMON, Idaho (KIFI) — Emergency crews responded to a vehicle that entered a canal near Ammon on Tuesday.

According to Sgt. Bryan Lovell of the Bonneville County Sheriff's Office, a female driver slid into a canal near a meat packing plant in the area of 1090 E. Iona Road. Lovell said the driver was rescued from the vehicle and is safe.

Responders are working to remove the vehicle; the road is closed with no estimate on when it will reopen.

No additional information has been released at this time. The Bonneville County Sheriff's Office says more details may be released as the investigation continues.
