Idaho Falls woman dies in two-vehicle collision, four others hospitalized

RIRIE, Idaho (KIFI) — A 44-year-old Idaho Falls woman died, and four others were hospitalized, Saturday afternoon after an early evening drive along US Highway 26 ended in a two-vehicle crash over the weekend.

According to the Idaho State Police, the crash occurred just before 4:30 p.m. near milepost 349.

Investigators report that both a 2017 Honda Accord, driven by the Idaho Falls woman, and a 2007 Toyota Tundra towing a utility trailer were traveling westbound. As the Honda attempted to turn left, it was struck by the Toyota, which was driven by a 37-year-old Ammon man carrying three juvenile passengers.

The driver of the Honda was not wearing a seatbelt and succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

The driver of the Tundra and all three juveniles were wearing seatbelts. Emergency crews transported all four by ground ambulance to a local hospital.

The crash blocked the westbound lane of the highway for roughly three hours.
