Ririe Bulldogs reload following 3A state championship runner-up finish

The Ririe Bulldogs high school football team is preparing for the upcoming season following a runner-up finish in the 3A state championship game.

The Bulldogs are navigating major roster turnover following the graduation of 14 seniors from last year's squad.

To support the new group of players taking over, the program is implementing an entirely new offense and defense for the current season.


Despite the structural changes, Ririe plans to maintain its signature physical approach on offense by utilizing a run-heavy strategy that routinely features 30 or more handoffs per game.

To prepare for that high volume of running plays, players rely heavily on sled training during practice. The squad spent nearly 2 hours working on the sled over a two-day period to build offensive line strength and master mental assignments.

Returning players are stepping into expanded roles, including taking on additional repetitions at running back, as the roster works to learn individual strengths and adjust to new teammates on the field.
