Missing hunter found dead in Custer County search

CUSTER COUNTY, Idaho (KIFI) - An overdue hunter who had been missing in Custer County has been found.

According to the Custer County Sheriff's Office, Kelly King was located Thursday afternoon after search crews spent days looking for him.

Authorities said Air Idaho Rescue spotted King's Polaris UTV around 12:20 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 2026. The vehicle was found off a trail on a sagebrush-covered hillside.

When ground crews reached the area, they found King's body inside the UTV.

Officials have not released a cause of death. The investigation remains ongoing.
