BSU football earns high academic ranking
A new NCAA report shows Boise State football players are among the best in the nation when it comes to making progress in the classroom.
School officials said Wednesday the football team received a score of 989 on the so-called Academic Progress Rate during a four-year period ending in 2010-11. That score puts Boise State in a tie for second with Duke among all Football Bowl Subdivision teams, and behind the top score of 995 posted by Northwestern.
The University of Idaho football team scored 934, while Idaho State came in at 881.
The APR offers a real-time look at a team’s academic success each semester by tracking academic progress of each scholarship athlete. The scoring factors in eligibility, retention and graduation to provide a snapshot of academic performance.
