Pocatello underpass to be closed
A check-up on the structural strength of a Pocatello underpass will keep one of the city’s major thoroughfares closed almost all day Thursday.
The Center Street underpass will be closed from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. If you need to get in or out of Old Town, you will have to detour to the Gould Street Bridge or Benton Overpass.
Engineers will examine the old underpass to see if it can be repaired or if it will need to be replaced. “We have some money set aside to rehab the structure, but first thing we need to do is see if we can rehab it,” said City Engineer Deidre Castillo.
If the surveyors don’t finish their work Thursday, the city said the closure could continue for part of Friday.
