Property Tax Notices Mailed: Due on Dec. 20
Property tax notices have been mailed out in Bonneville County. Those living within the limits of school district 91 will see a tax increase because of the 30% increase in the levee.
Bonneville county treasurer Mark Hanson said increases on individual property taxes will vary. “There’s two parts to the property taxed. There’s the levees and the values. They are independent so you can have some levees go up or down and values go up or down. It depends on the area.”
Payments can be made in person at the treasury office, mailed in, or paid by credit card online. or by phone. Homeowners have an alternateoption to pay half the balance by the December 20th deadline and then take a six month grace period.
Homeowners would pay the rest of the balance either in full at the end of the six months which would be June 20th or in installments of their choice during that six month period. As long has half the balance is received on December 20th there will be no late charges.
If an initial payment is received after December 20th, a two percent late charge will be added. Any payments received after January 1 will have an additional one percent per month interest rate until the balance is paid in full.
