Dairy Council promotes school breakfast
The Idaho Dairy Council hosted a breakfast assembly at Rimrock Elementary to promote a healthy start to a student’s day.
The council said 1 out of every 5 kids in America goes hungry during the day. They said this assembly was a great lead-in to its “Fuel Up 2 Go Play” campaign to encourage kids to play for at least 60 minutes each day.
Council Health and Wellness Manager Pohley Richey said that a healthy breakfast not only helps students stay active during the day, but “they have improved memory, concentration, they do better on tests and they miss less school.”
The Bonneville County School District was awarded several grants through the council to improve its breakfast and lunch menu. The council also presented several schools in the district with new smoothie blenders, adding that extra kick to school menus.
