Private land littered with garbage in Bonneville County
A private parcel of land in Bonneville County near the Ammon foothills is being used as a dumping ground, according to concerned Ammon residents.
“A lot of people bring furniture out. Old TVs, old computers,” said Ashley Anderson. “You see it everywhere you go.”
Anderson lives in Ammon, not far from the land. She said she and others are tired of seeing trash.
“Especially when people come up (to see) the windmills. That’s something pretty big that a lot of people travel here to see and so when they come up here they see trash everywhere,” said Anderson.
“A lot of people don’t even realize that they’re doing anything wrong. They just see trash here so they leave trash here,” said Ammon resident Kelly Hoover.
“It’s not safe for kids to come out here. It’s not even safe to ride your four wheelers with all the trash everywhere. You could pop a tire,” Hoover said.
Anderson said she heard the land’s owner is thinking about closing it off if the dumping continues.
Anderson and Hoover say they plan to clean up the land with a group called Women of Caliber next month. For more information, you can visit the group’s Facebook page.
