Experts explain eastern Idaho bank boom
Mountain America Credit Union held their grand reopening in Idaho Falls Friday. This comes after D. L. Evans Bank groundbreaking on Sunnyside Road Wednesday and plans for a new Idaho Central Credit Union branch on 1st Street and Hitt Road in Ammon.
The Greater Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce said improvements to the Sunnyside corridor between the two cities is not only increasing traffic between them, but increasing interdependence throughout businesses in the area.
“When you have growth in business and you have growth in population, you’re going to have banks,” said chamber CEO Michelle Holt.
Although there has been massive growth throughout Hitt Road for both cities, Sunnyside is aiding Ammon’s quest toward more economic development.
“Ammon as a community and a City Council in particular have been doing an exceptional job of really being welcoming and supporting of business growth in the community,” said Holt.
Economists said the bottom line is that economic growth in an part of the valley is a win for the region.
