Bicyclists help local nonprofit

A bicyclist team called Bike and Build teamed up with Habitat for Humanities in Idaho Falls Monday.

Students from various colleges bike across the country. On their journey they team up with non profits to help with housing projects. The group stopped off in Idaho Falls to help Heather Fohrenck repaint and landscape her front yard.

“I have lived here twelve years and I could never do what they are about to do in two days. I am truly blessed and grateful,” she said.

The organization has about 33 riders and works to fill the volunteer gaps as they travel.

“It means the world to me and it means the world to a lot of my riders. You can tell just by talking to people and explaining the cause that we are riding for that there’s passion behind it and it’s as real as it gets,” said route manager Dan McMahon .

Habitat Humanities said they would not have been successful with this project without Bike and Build. They said they have been unable to find local volunteers.
