Former Idaho first lady dies

Jacque Batt, the wife of former Gov. Phil Batt, died Sunday.

Her husband was governor from 1995 to 1999.

On Monday, Idaho leaders issued statements on Jacque Batt’s death.

“We will never forget the enduring strength of her 66-year marriage to Gov. Phil Batt and her grace as Idaho’s first lady. She was a deeply caring and compassionate woman who left us all better for having known her,’ said Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter.

“Jacque’s kind spirit and effortless ability to lead with grace during her tenure as Idaho’s first lady in the 1990s left an everlasting mark on those who had the opportunity to meet and associate with her,” U.S Sen. Mike Crapo said.

“Jacque loved our great state,” said U.S. Sen. Jim Risch. “She will be dearly missed.”
