Idaho Falls man accused of hitting officer

A police officer was hospitalized after an Idaho Falls man allegedly hit him.

Idaho Falls police said Curtis M. Evans, 26, hit an officer in the face Monday afternoon.

Police say officers were called to a disturbance in the 1300 block of Benton just after 4:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, the officer was notified that Evans had a warrant out for his arrest. Evans resisted and hit the officer in the face, causing him to lose partial consciousness, police said.

Evans ran from the home, but was located in the 300 block of Woodruff and arrested.

The officer was taken by ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

Evans was booked into the Bonneville County Jail on charges of resisting arrest and a misdemeanor warrant.
