Barking dog saves Idaho Falls man from fire

A barking dog gave an Idaho Falls man enough time to escape a fire without serious injury Wednesday morning.

The Idaho Falls Fire Department said it was called to a chimney fire in a 1980 single-wide trailer at 6282 S. 35 West around 6 a.m. The fire extended into the ceiling.

Three engines, a rescue truck and one chief officer responded to the fire.

Damage was estimated at $16,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
