Community remembers young man killed in collision with train

A recent Shelley High School graduate is being mourned after he was killed in a truck-train collision Wednesday.

Jonathon Adamson died at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center Wednesday night.

His Chevy pickup was hit by a train north of Shelley just after 10 a.m. at a railroad crossing, Idaho State Police said.

A long-time family friend spoke with us Thursday about the young man whose life was taken far too soon.

“He was very committed to his family and his friends,” said Landry Harper. “He had so many friends at the hospital. I’d say half of the graduation class of Shelley High School was at that hospital yesterday, and that’s a testament to how many lives he touched. … So his mom would like to say thank you for everybody in the local community for all of the kind words and all of the help they’ve had to give.”

An account has been set up to help the family with funeral and medical expenses. You can visit any Wells Fargo Bank to contribute.
