National organization looking to rescue cows

After several cows escaped from a meat packing facility in Pocatello, an organization called Farm Sanctuary is hoping to take the cows out to pasture in a literal sense.

The organization is hoping the owners of the cows will sign them over to the sanctuary’s custody.

Susie Coston, national shelter director, said the sanctuary has all sorts of animals at their shelters. They have two shelters in California and one in New York state.

Coston said she heard one of the cows is pregnant, and says the animals are clearly fighting to stay alive.

“She’s trying to prove that she wants to live and I think we should try to let them live,” she said. “Allowing them to be able to have this turn out to be a very happy ending would be such an amazing gift to them.”

Coston is hoping the owners of the cows will contact their organization so they can save the cows. Information about the sanctuary can be found at farmsanctuary.org.
