Oversized load to move through Pocatello Saturday morning

An extra large load may create some brief traffic problems between Pocatello and Idaho Falls Saturday morning.

Pocatello Police say a trucking company is bringing the load through Pocatello between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. Saturday. The unidentified load is about 70′ long and 17′ tall, which is too tall to make it under interstate overpass structures.

The vehicles will exit the interstate at S. 5th in Pocatello, then proceed north on 4th, north Yellowstone, through Chubbuck and then continue north on Highway 91 to Idaho Falls. Idaho Falls is believed to be its final destination.

The load will take up both lanes of traffic and occasionally block traffic completely.

The vehicles were stopped at McCammon Friday, awaiting final state permits for the next leg of their trip through eastern Idaho.

Police are encouraging motorists to use alternate routes. Although patrol cars will accompany the vehicles.
