Shelley High musician named Distinguished Student
There’s not much Shelley High School senior Alexis Banks enjoys more than performing music.
“I just love being able to express myself in that way,” Banks said. “I love singing especially. It’s always been one of my favorite things. Ever since I was a little kid I would climb up on the counter and perform for my family,”
Banks is involved in a long list of activities – many musical. She’s in show choir and school musicals. She takes dance, voice, and piano lessons and maintains a perfect GPA.
“Sometimes it’s crazy,” Banks said. “Sometimes I have to stay up till 2 in the morning in order to get my assignments done, but I just do what I have to do because I want the best grades that I can get, and I always work hard for that.”
In addition to all the activities we’ve mentioned, Banks volunteers at a senior citizens home.
“One of my favorite parts of Natural Helpers is going over to The Gables and getting to associate with the people over there – it’s really fun.”
Banks plans to go to Brigham Young University and serve an LDS mission. Even as she looks to the future she looks back on her high school years and has this advice for other students.
“I would say just enjoy this time and make the most of it,” Banks said. “Enjoy your time and the friends and the memories, but also use this time to explore and really decide what you like.”
