Know where to park (and when) in Idaho Falls

The City of Idaho Falls is implementing parking restrictions for snow removal.

If your vehicle is left on the streets during the prohibited times, it might get towed at your expense.

The city is divided into two zones. Attached to this article is a map detailing the zones.

Zone A is the area immediately around the downtown area (which has its own parking restrictions — see below). The parking restrictions there are as follows:

North-south streets: Parking restrictions will be in effect between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday, Wednesday and Friday beginning Monday.
East-west streets: Parking restrictions will be in effect between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday beginning Tuesday.

Other areas in Idaho Falls (Zone B):

Parking restrictions will be in effect on all streets between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. beginning Monday. Vehicles should be moved off the public streets as quickly as possible, the city said.

In downtown Idaho Falls:

North-south streets: Parking restrictions will be in effect between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
East-west streets: Parking restrictions will be in effect between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

Major streets already have parking restrictions in place.

City officials also are reminding people to watch where they shovel snow.

“We would like to remind residents that it is against city ordinance to shovel snow from sidewalks and driveways into city streets. We would appreciate the public’s help by shoveling the snow onto yards instead,” said Street Superintendent Paul Hathaway.
