Man arrested after 14-mile pursuit

A Montana man is being charged with grand theft and eluding a police officer after a 14-mile police pursuit early Sunday.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said Daniel J. Devine, 32, of Seeley, Montana, was arrested north of Hamer. Idaho State Police and Clark County Sheriff’s deputies assisted in the arrest.

According to deputies, a man was seen loading items into a truck behind Ron’s Tire in Hamer at around 3:07 a.m. Sunday.

After a 14-mile pursuit, the vehicle was discovered abandoned in the Beaver Creek area. Devine was tracked on foot before he was apprehended about two miles away.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said Devine is also under investigation in other areas for similar crimes
