Portneuf Wellness Complex on track

Construction for the $15 million project is on track and still expected to meet its timeline.

Bannock County workers started laying 45 acres of sod Thursday for the complex’s multi-use fields. The complex will have a mountain bike park, basketball courts, running and walking paths, and a large pond for fishing and swimming. There will also be an outdoor concert venue.

The project is expected to be finished around Sept. 1.

“The Portneuf Wellness Complex is going to really serve a regional purpose,” said Shaun Menchaca, president and CEO of the Portneuf Health Care Foundation. “So folks in Rexburg, folks in Idaho Falls, folks in Blackfoot– this is your home, too. In addition to enjoying all the amenities that your fine communities have, we’re also looking (forward) to you enjoying this.”

There are a number of concerts planned for Sept., musical acts will be announced May 1.
