Cox enters not guilty plea

Tanner Cox, the man accused of beating Josh Olzak to death, pleaded not guilty in court today.

Cox has been charged with voluntary manslaughter.

Olzak died after he was beaten to death in what police call a road rage incident on May 9th.

Police said Cox, Olzak and others got into an argument in the early morning hours of May 9. The men left a local bar, then drove through the city streets.

Josh Loveless, who was with Olzak, has said three cars followed them after they left the bar. Loveless said after they were almost ran off of the road, he and Olzak got out of the vehicle, only to be beaten immediately for no apparent reason. Loveless had to undergo surgery on his jaw. Cox allegedly punched Olzak one time, knocking him down and causing his head to hit the ground.

A doctor has said there was blunt force injury to Olzak’s face, and his brain was bruised.

Cox is facing up to fifteen years in prison and a 15-thousand dollar fine.

The preliminary hearing is set for September 2nd and the jury trial is expected to begin on September 13th.
