Pocatello woman killed in fiery crash

A Pocatello woman was killed and four other people were hospitalized after a fiery crash at approximately 2:13 a.m. Friday on Forest Service Road #344, near South Fork Mink Creek Road, south of Pocatello.

Crystal Bigham, 35, died at the scene of the crash.

Idaho State Police said a 1996 Dodge pickup driven by Richard Keifer, 26, of Union Gap, Washington, left the road from the right shoulder and struck a tree. The pickup caught on fire.

Keifer and his other passengers, Rayfield Philpot, 27, Pillip Baldwin, 25, and Cameron Hoffman, 27, all of Pocatello, were taken to Portneuf Medical Center. All four were treated for their injuries and released.

Idaho State Police said Keifer and all of his passengers were wearing seatbelts.

The Caribou-Targhee National Forest said the fire caused by the crash was estimated at 1/10-acre.

One light engine was sent to the scene.

The fire was contained at 7:30 a.m. and was expected to be fully controlled by 9 a.m. Friday.
