Bank manager pleads guilty to theft

A manager at an Idaho Falls bank admitted to embezzling nearly $90,000.

Hailey Parmer, 30, of Idaho Falls, pleaded guilty Wednesday to bank theft.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Parmer admitted that between June 2012 and December 2014, she stole $88,358 from a Wells Fargo Bank branch in Idaho Falls.

She withdrew various amounts from three customers’ accounts and then concealed the theft by moving funds between the customers’ accounts and lines of credit and her teller cash drawer. She also embezzled funds from her teller cash drawer and hid her actions by avoiding audits and falsely reporting cash balances, the attorney’s office said.

Parmer used the stolen money to pay her mortgage, car payments and credit card bills. She also used it to buy gifts.

She is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 9 at the federal courthouse in Pocatello. The charge of bank theft is punishable by up to 30 years in prison, a maximum fine of $1 million, and up to three years of supervised release.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Secret Service.
