AK-47 Bandit Strikes again in Iowa
It is believed the AK-47 Bandit struck again; this time in Mason City, Iowa.
On Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at approximately 9:55 a.m. the Heartland Community Credit Union at 1602 S. Monroe Avenue was robbed.
The lone male suspect was described as a white male, 5’9″ to 6′, medium build, possible blue eyes, 20’s to 40’s, wearing a black ski mask and gloves. The suspect was armed with an AK-47 with a high capacity drum magazine. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of money and left the area in a 2007-2009 model black or dark-colored Toyota Camry LE. It is believed in past robberies suspect has used a dark Nissan Maxima with chrome door handles. The suspect left behind a suspicious item that was rendered safe by FBI bomb squad personnel and State Fire Marshal.
A reward of up to $100,000 is being offered in exchange for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect who shot and wounded a Chino police officer after robbing a bank in 2012 and who has since been linked to four bank robberies, including one in Rexburg.
