I-15 accident kills one, driver arrested
An early Saturday morning accident in Blackfoot killed one person, the driver was arrested for fleeing.
Just before 5:30 a.m., a 2001 Ford Explorer traveling South, went off the right shoulder near the main Blackfoot exit. Idaho State Police say the driver overcorrected and rolled back across the southbound lanes, landed in the median of the interstate upside down.
Meso Reymieri, 36, of Guatemala, was ejected from the vehicle, and succumbed to his injuries at the crash.
Police say the driver wasGonzalo Lopez-Vasquez, 32, of Wimauma, Florida.Police say Lopez-Vasquez was located a half mile from the crash, and was transported by ground ambulance to Bingham Memorial.
Lopez-Vasquez was arrested and charged with Leaving the Scene of a Fatality Crash and Vehicular Manslaughter. Lopez was wearing a seatbelt; Reymieri was not wearing a seatbelt.
This crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
