Holiday’s trigger domestic violence
The holidays can be a tough time of year for domestic violence victims.
The pressures of holiday shopping can cause financial burdens and family expectations can lead to physical violence.
Many people can become stressed while trying to live up to these heightened expectations, and feel devastated if they fail.
Executive Director of The Bingham Crisis Center in Blackfoot said,”The bills come due after the holiday not during. The emotional let down that all of us feel after the holiday season you know hits even more if your family is not doing well. All of those things combined make it more likely that people are going to have fights and arguments and be physical violent with one another.”
She also said that alcohol consumption increases during the holidays and that too can lead to physical abuse.
