Bonneville county deputies use taser in early morning arrest
Bonneville County deputies deployed a taser to help them arrest Manuel Cordova, 25, at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday.
According to reports, deputies initiated a traffic stop on Cordova’s vehicle in the area of Custer and McKinzie Avenue in Idaho Falls.
After the deputy made contact and returned to his patrol car, Cordova fled in the vehicle. While he never traveled over 15 miles per hour, he did not stop. Cordova then pulled into a driveway on Ricks Street and attempted to enter a house. It was later determined the home belonged to a relative.
Deputies said they ordered Cordova to stop and when he didn’t they fired a Taser.
Once in custody, Cordova was found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest in Fremont County. He was also in possession of drug paraphernalia and a small amount of methamphetamine.
Two deputies suffered minor injuries and one was struck in the throat by Cordova. They did not require medical attention.
Cordova was taken to the Bonneville County jail on the Fremont County warrant. He was also charged with eluding an officer, battery on an officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of methamphetamine.
