Update: Air quality advisory for Salmon area lifted.
Update: After a full week, the Department of Environmental Quality has lifted the air quality advisory for the Salmon area. No health advisories are active at this time.
Original story: The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality has issued an air quality alert for Salmon and the surrounding area.
Due to high amounts of particulate matter in the air the DEQ has issued a warning about the degraded air quality in the area. Air quality for the area is currently considered to be in the unhealthy range of the spectrum. This means that those with respiratory diseases are likely to feel side effects from the air quality change but most others will not be affected.
During this advisory all outdoor burning is prohibited. Homes with wood burning stoves are not included in this burn ban.
The air quality for the area will be reassessed on Wednesday January 6th.
