Idaho Falls Power to buy a section of Rocky Mountain Power territory

Rocky Mountain Power has agreed to sell a section of its service territory to Idaho Falls Power. The Idaho Public Utilities Commission is taking public comments on the proposal through January 29.

The joint agreement would transfer the Fielding Cemetery property at 4800 S. Yellowstone Highway for just under $50,000. The transfer includes Rocky Mountain Power property that includes poles, conductors and conduits.

The City of Idaho Falls is surrounded by Rocky Mountain Power’s service territory. In August 2005, Rocky Mountain Power and the City of Idaho Falls signed the “Idaho Falls Allocation Agreement,” intended to reduce duplication of service. The agreement allows for transfer of customer services so long as the customer being served provides a written request to transfer service.
