2 skiers dead after avalanche near Jackson Hole Resort
Two skiers are dead after an avalanche swept away three skiers in the Ralph Slide area just south of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.
Ski patrol responded to the slide a little after 2 P.M. when someone called in to report the slide. In their initial search, ski patrol found one of the skiers alive, but it took nearly an hour to find the bodies of the other two missing skiers. When found, both were unresponsive and declared dead at the scene.
Authorities have not released the names of the victims and won’t until family is notified first. It is believed that both victims were visiting the valley and aren’t from the area.
This is the second fatal slide in the Jackson Hole region this season. The last accident happened on January 19 where a snowboarder was killed on a mountain area known as the Pyramid.
