Selling Idaho Falls to attract workforce
Attracting and keeping a workforce in Idaho Falls is all about knowing how to sell the area, according to local officials.
That was the focus at the Greater Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce’s event Mayor’s Business Day Tuesday.
The idea is to give employers the tools to entice and keep workers for job growth, chamber CEO Michelle Holt said.
She said it’s important to remember that Idaho has more to offer than just agriculture.
“Because of our proximity to the INL. Because of the location and access to higher education,” Holt said. “We have an educated workforce. We have technology companies. We are a force to be reckoned with when it comes to certain types of industry that people would not necessarily associate, not only with Idaho but with eastern Idaho.”
Holt said another way to attract business and workers to Idaho Fall is showcasing what the city has to offer.
“It’s wonderful the proximity we have to the national parks and all of the natural resources, we need to market that. But at the same time, we need to be careful because that word gateway means, pass through here and go somewhere else,” Holt said. “What does Idaho Falls have to offer? We are family friendly, we have lots of things for people to do, the arts and culture for a community this size is phenomenal.”
