Idaho jobless numbers up slightly in July

Idaho’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased slightly in July to 3.8 percent, a one-tenth percent increase from June.

According to the Idaho Department of Labor, Idaho was first in the nation for over-the-year job growth with nearly 23,000 more jobs driven by across-the-board gains in all key industries.

Construction showed the biggest gain with a 12.6 percent increase, followed by gains in financial activities, leisure and hospitality and other services.

Job growth was relatively in eastern Idaho. The Rexburg area unemployment rate was lowest in the state at 2.8 percent. Idaho Falls posted stable numbers at 3.3 percent. The Pocatello market increased slightly from 3.5 percent in June to 3.6 percent in July, a projected loss of 47 jobs over the month.
