Teton County Sheriff’s recognized for zero deaths

The Teton County Sheriff’s office was recognized by the Idaho Transportation Board Thursday for their commitment towards “Zero Deaths” on Idaho’s roads.

During the regular meeting, the board called up Teton County Sheriff’s Office along with Idaho State Police to accept the 2015 Star award.

Idaho State Police Lt. Chris Weadick said they partnered up with Teton Sheriff’s and the Idaho Transportation Department to target aggressive drivers, DUI drivers, lack of using seat belts and distracted drivers, along with finding out problem locations within counties.

“The award we received from the Idaho Transportation Department really solidifies our partnership with the Teton County Sheriff’s Office and their goal towards zero fatal crashes and zero deaths. We partnered up with them and the Idaho Transportation Department so we can really go out there and promote traffic safety,” Weadick said.

This is the third year in row that the Teton County Sheriff’s have received this award.

“Teton County is a very busy commuter area, the recreation during the winter, sky hills, travelers heading to Jackson Wyoming. Very busy area, a lot of traffic. A lot of hard work and effort that went into this public safety,” Weadick said.

Below is data that was researched by the Idaho Transportation Department that provides the number of people killed on the roadways in different counties that have similar population size. Teton is looking better than the other counties with four out of the last five years with no people being killed on the roadways in their county.
