Bar catches fire in Mud Lake
A bar in Mud Lake caught fire early Thursday morning.
Painted Pony Bar and Grill, formerly known as the Wayside Saloon, was reported at approximately 6:30 a.m.
The bar next to the Mud Lake Historical Museum. Jefferson County Sheriff Detective Sam Tower said 20 to 30 volunteers helped clean out the museum in 45 minutes.
Firefighters were able to stop the fire inside the bar.
Jefferson County Sheriff Steve Anderson said the building is a total loss. “But due to the efforts of the multiple area fire services and local citizens, the museum and other adjacent buildings have only suffered very minor smoke damage,” Anderson said.

he Battalion Chief Jeff Risk said they will be tearing down much of the structure today.
The store is said to have been built in the 1930s. The bar was known as the Wayside Saloon for many year until it was recently re-opened as the Painted Pony Bar and Grill.
Hunter’s Haven was also connected to the building.
West Jefferson Fire along with the INL Fire department helped fight the fire.
