District 93 students earn college credits

Members of the School District 93 school board took a tour of Eastern Idaho Technical College Monday.

The College is offering classes for high school students to take and the extra classroom space is also helping out Bonneville High School.

The high school is in the beginning stages of constructing a new building, and in the meantime students can take classes at EITC that will go toward high school and college credits.

Corey Telford, principal said, “Each student who is in the the Fast Forward program will receive $4,125 to use towards Advanced

Bonneville junior Marci Cromwell is taking advantage of the dual credits program and will be one of the first to graduate with an associate degree.

“I started over the summer with taking college classes and I’m working on it this year. I’m taking 19 college credits right now,” Cromwel said.

Student body president Jessica Donahoo said the program will help students save money.

“I’m getting both my history credit and English credits here for the high school but also dual credit for college. I won’t have to pay for those classes at my four year college,” Jessica said.

Telford said the program was expanded by the Legislature in 2016 through the passing of House Bill 458.
