Jackson Council approves special revenue fund

The Jackson Town Council has approved the creation of a special revenue fund in the Fiscal Year 2017 budget.

The fund will track all revenue created by a proposed 1 penny tax if voters approve the general revenue tax initiative in November.

The decision also allows tracking of all expenditures in order to provide transparency to the public.

On June 6, the Town Council and County Commission jointly adopted a resolution that dedicated and committed funds from an additional one cent sales tax towards housing and transportation.

“We appreciate the efforts that have been made to track how this money is spent,” said Mayor Flitner. “We are committed to the community priorities of housing and transportation and this is one more tool to provide public transparency.”
