Quilts of hope
The Rexburg Museum has quilts made by refugees on display. The artisan quilts came from Boise and will be available to the community to see until Oct. 10.
Museum curator Jackie Rawlins said the quilts tell a story about what refugees have gone through in their war-torn counties and their journey to America for freedom.
“I think it’s a process of owning your story, knowing where you came from and what you’ve been through, and how strong you are in the end. I think it takes them from being a number to a human being,” Rawlins said.
Rawlins added, “Some of those refugees have been in refugee camps since they were little and have been in there for 19 years.”
