Cyber Monday shopping

One of the biggest online shopping days of the year is here, from clothing chains to giant department stores, retailers have shared their plans to attract customers on Cyber Monday, with some promotions lasting all week.

Some people did most of their shopping on Black Friday and some saved it for Cyber Monday. Sarah Tamayo said she does both forms of shopping.

“I did Black Friday shopping and today after work I’m going to shop online,” Tamayo said.

She adds, “I like shopping online because you can avoid big crowds, and busy parking lots. And if you need a specific size you don’t have to go looking for it. The item is right in front of you with the available sizes.”

Tamayo said she doesn’t believe Cyber Monday is a trend that will eventually fade away.”I don’t think it is a trend. More and more things are going to online, more companies are online now.”

A survey by FatWallet.com found that about a quarter of shoppers plan to buy things for themselves on Cyber Monday. While only 20 percent of women said they plan to do some Cyber Monday shopping for themselves, 30 percent of men said the same.

Adobe Digital Insights predicts that Cyber Monday will bring in $3.36 billion before the day is done. A jump of more than 9 percent over last year.
