Baby girl is first baby at PMC for 2017

Just a few hours into the new year, a couple from American Falls welcomed their first child into the world.

Baby Yaleyza Zermeño is the first baby born in the new year at Portneuf Medical Center.

New mom, Yesenia Rosales, and new dad, Gil Zermeño, came to Portneuf on New Year’s Eve around 5 PM but they were sent home because Rosales’ labor was not progressing. She came back at 8:40 AM New Year’s Day in full labor and the baby was born at 10:53 AM.

Yaleyza weighed six pounds and 13 ounces at birth and measured 20 1⁄4 inches.

Being the first baby born in the new year, Yaleyza goes home with a wagon full of diapers, wipes, a baby swing, baby monitor, bath tub and books that were all donated by the Portneuf Auxiliary.
