Children at center of Wyoming AMBER Alert found unharmed; mother in custody

UPDATE 7:15 p.m. – The two children at the center of an AMBER Alert have been found safe and are now in the custody of the Idaho Department of Human Services.

The Polk County, Iowa Sheriff’s Office says the children’s mother is now in jail.

UPDATE 1:28 p.m. – The AMBER Alert issued for two missing Iowa children has been canceled because of alert protocol, according to the Polk County, Iowa Sheriff.

Despite the alert being canceled, the sheriff’s office say both children are still considered to be in danger. One of the children has a medical condition and it is believed he is not getting the care required.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911.

ORIGINAL STORY: The state of Wyoming has issued an AMBER Alert for two young children who police in Iowa say were taken by their non-custodial parent.

The children, Morgan and Landon Griffin, were last seen with their mother, Mary Andrea Purcell, on Tuesday in Des Moines, Iowa, according to the alert, which was issued early Saturday morning.

They are believed to be traveling to Oregon and could be coming through Wyoming.

Purcell is thought to be driving a gold or brown 2003 Chevrolet Suburban with Iowa license plate CRY 371.

Anyone with information, or anyone who sees the children is asked to call 911.
