Idaho Falls shooting investigation continues

Idaho Falls Police confirmed two guns were found at the scene of the shooting Sunday. One, a .40 caliber handgun belonged to the 34-year-old “person-of-interest”. The victim was in possession of a .25 caliber automatic handgun.

Idaho Falls Police are continuing to investigate the shooting death of a 26-year-old Bonneville County man at an apartment in the 200 block of Moonlite Drive Sunday afternoon.
Police said Monday the shooting may be a case of self-defense.
A final determination has not been made.
Police were called to the home at 1:57 p.m. Sunday after reports of shots being fired. The man was found dead inside an apartment.
A 34-year-old Bonneville County man was detained as a “person of interest” in the investigation. Police said the man cooperated with the investigation and was released from custody. He is not believed to be a threat to the community.
An autopsy on the deceased man was underway Monday in Boise.
The names of the dead man and the person of interest were being withheld by the Idaho Falls City Attorney.

The Idaho Falls Police Department says one man was killed in a Sunday afternoon shooting.
Officers were called to the apartment on the 200 Block of Moonlight Drive. Responding officers found the man dead inside the apartment. A second person, who was standing outside, was detained. Two guns were also recovered from the scene.
A police spokesperson tells KIFI/KIDK that they are awaiting a search warrant to enter the home and search a car believed to have a connection to the crime.
