Update: Gas leak at Wendy’s repaired, roads reopen

Update 4:30 pm: Officials with the City of Idaho Falls say that the gas leak at Wendy’s has been repaired and the roads around it are reopening. Businesses in the area should be reopening soon.

Original Story: People at businesses near the Wendy’s location on North Gate Mile have been evacuated because of a gas leak at the restaurant.

Kerry Hammond with the City of Idaho Falls says that a gas line was sheared off accidentally just below the meter at the restaurant. The restaurant is currently being renovated and was already closed.

People are asked to avoid the area while crews respond to shut down the gas leak and repair the broken line.
