First Alert Evening Forecast for Jan. 22

We’re seeing moderate, consistent snowfall across most of the region this evening. Count on more snow showers over the next 24 hours.

Tonight, off-and-on snow showers with lows in the teens and 20’s. Almost everyone will see some snow this evening, but totals will vary. The southern Snake River Plain will see about 0-2 inches, the central and northern Snake River Plain will see about 1-4 inches, mountain valleys will see 3-7 inches (a little less for Lemhi County), and mountains above about 7500 feet will see amounts from 6-12 inches. Blowing snow will also be a factor in a few spots so give yourself extra driving time if you must.

Monday, more snow showers with pockets of heavy snowfall at times. Add on top of the Sunday snow totals anywhere between 3-6 inches with some mountain locations getting more. Give yourself a few extra minutes as the morning commute will be slick in many locations. Daytime highs will top out mainly in the 20’s with a few 30’s in the southern Snake River Plain. Winds and blowing snow will be a factor for some folks.

Tuesday, lingering snow showers across the region, with most of them sticking to the eastern and southeastern highlands. Any new snow amounts will range from a trace to about 2 inches. Count on mostly cloudy skies with a bit of sunshine peaking through at times. Highs will be in the teens and 20’s.

Wednesday, partly sunny with just a stray snow shower or two in the high country. Highs will be on the cold side topping out in the teens for most cities with only a few spots like the southern Snake River Plain reaching the 20’s.
