Detailed Forecast for January 24, 2017

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for much of the region. The warning goes into Tuesday afternoon with periods of heavy snow, especially in the Snake River Plain and Eastern Highlands, and gusty winds. An additional 3-6 inches possible for the Snake River Plain. Tuesday, periods of blowing snow across the region, with most of them sticking to the eastern and southeastern highlands. Any new snow amounts will range from 3-6+ inches. Count on cloudy skies with a bit of sunshine peaking through in Central Idaho at times. Highs will be in the teens and 20’s. Breezy with southwest winds at 10-25 mph. Tonight, partial clearing and colder with a few light snow showers. Lows into the single digits and teens. Chance of snow 30%. Wednesday, partly sunny with just a stray snow shower or two in the high country. Highs will be on the cold side topping out in the teens for most cities with only a few spots like the southern Snake River Plain reaching the 20’s.
